Susan originally came to hypnotherapy from a counselling background, having been a Lifeline Telephone counsellor for some years. She became the administrator for Alpha Hypnosis Training when she joined the business in 1994.
Susan also assists Roger in the ideas and development of new training, and is always on the lookout for other training that may be helpful or beneficial for their graduates and past students, and also other hypnotherapists. In the past Alpha has arranged training in New Zealand for a number of international presenters such as (the late) Gil Boyne (USA), Roy Hunter (USA), Andrew Newton (SA & UK), .....

Joane Goulding (AUS), Costa Labrius (UK), Alan Patching (AUS) and more.
Susan has been a qualified hypnotherapist since 1994, after graduating with the Hypnotism Training Institute of New Zealand (now Alpha Hypnosis Training) Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1994. Susan also completed "Transforming Therapy" (advanced hypnotherapy) with the late Gil Boyne in 1998. Since then she has attended many trainings, some of which are: TimelineTM Therapy, Parts Therapy, Phobias & PTSD, SleepTalkTM for Children, HypnoFertility and Hypnosis for Birthing, Soul Retrieval Therapy, and much more.
Not only has Susan taken a main role in the business, she quickly realised that for hypnotherapy to be taken seriously by mainstream (medical profession, government departments, ACC, etc) standards of training needed to be agree. Whilst this has not yet happened, she is committed to ensuring the standards of training are not lowered.
Susan served on both the NZHA and NZAPH committees from 1993, when (while doing her initial training) she became Treasurer. In 1994 she became Secretary when Roger stepped down from this position. In this role she was in the forefront of moves to bring the association into the "modern" era. The NZHA purchased a computer in 1994, and Susan set up and published the first NZHA monthly newsletter. She helped establish the Mentor System for new members, arranged the bi-monthly ongoing education meetings in Auckland - audio recording the speakers to form a library for members, instigated the setting up of "sub-groups", so members in various areas could meet on a regular basis for on-going education, support, and socialising.
Susan was Secretary when the NZHA and the NGH combined to form a new professional association - the New Zealand Association of Professional Hypnotherapists. During this time a mini conference was first held in Taupo, which proved popular with members from the lower North Island.
She remained on the committee as Secretary until 2002, when became involved at a national level with setting up the NZ Hypnotherapists Registration Board and became a Foundation Member. Susan is currently Secretary of the NZHRB Executive Board, and is on the NZHRB Assessment Panel.
She is also on the committee of the NZ Hypnotherapy Federation, and has been on the conference organising committee for the since 2003, when the one day conference was transformed into a National 2 Day Conference Weekend with international presenters. Susan was also instrumental in setting up the Hypnotherapy Award Dinner, held each year after the conference.
Susan has a number of awards that are testament to her passion and involvement in the profession since 1993, including Honorary Life Membership NZHA and NZAPH.
